Delivery Receipt Response Codes

The page describes delivery receipt response codes and are grouped by category:

Category: Generic—1000 to 1020 

Code Category Description
1000 Generic Default State
1001 Generic The message is queued for delivery.
1002 Generic The message was sent.
1003 Generic The message was accepted by the carrier.
1004 Generic The message was delivered to the handset.
1005 Generic The message was rejected.
1006 Generic The message has expired.
1007 Generic The message failed to send.
1008 Generic Permanent send error.
1012 Generic The destination rejected the message because the receiver has opted to stop receiving messages from that number.
1020 Generic Permanent system error.


Category: Router—1100 to 1150 

Code Category Description
1100 Router Unknown error. An unexpected error has occured.
1101 Router The source carrier is invalid.
1102 Router The destination carrier is invalid.
1103 Router Source not authorized. The number you are sending from is not authorized to send to the recipient number.
1104 Router The source carrier has been disabled.
1105 Router The destination carrier has been disabled.
1106 Router The route is not valid.
1107 Router The source number format is invalid.
1108 Router The destination number format is invalid.
1109 Router Route denied. You don't have permission to use the route.
1110 Router The user opted out of receiving messages from the source number.
1111 Router An unknown error has caused a temporary failure in sending the message.
1112 Router An unknown error has caused a permanent failure in sending the message.
1116 Router The destination is not SMS-enabled.
1150 Router The message has been flagged as spam.
1152 Router The message has been flagged as spam via fingerprinting/content analysis.


Category: SMPP—1200 to 1243

Code Category Description
1200 SMPP Unknown error. An unexpected error of indeterminate origin occurred.
1201 SMPP The message length is too long. One or more Tag Length Parameters (TLV) is longer than allowed.
1202 SMPP Invalid priority flag. The priority flag either is not allowed or uses an incorrect value.
1203 SMPP Invalid registered delivery flag. The registered delivery flag contains an invalid character or unsupported value.
1204 SMPP System error. Typically, a required parameter was not passed.
1205 SMPP Invalid source address. The source address might be of the wrong length or might contain invalid characters.
1206 SMPP Invalid destination address. The destination address might be of the wrong length or might contain invalid character5s.
1207 SMPP Invalid message. The message ID in one of the operations might be incorrect.
1208 SMPP Canceling the message failed for a generic reason.
1209 SMPP Replacing the message failed for a generic reason.
1210 SMPP The message queue is full. The maximum number of unread messages has been reached for the destination address.
1211 SMPP Invalid service type. The specified service type might be of the wrong type or not within the defined range and is not recognized by a specific messaging center (MC).
1212 SMPP Invalid number of destinations. The number of destinations set for the Protocol Data Unit (PDU) is invalid.
1213 SMPP Invalid distribution list name. The destination name set in the Protocol Data Unit (PDU) is invalid or does not exist.
1214 SMPP Invalid destination flag. Typically, the destination flag set in the Protocol Data Unit (PDU) is encoded with an invalid setting.
1215 SMPP Invalid submit with replace request. The request is not supported by a specific messaging center (MC) or the MC is not authorized to use this functionality.
1216 SMPP Invalid ESM class set. The ESM is not supported.
1217 SMPP Cannot submit to a distribution list. Distribution lists are either not supported, are denied, or are unavailable.
1218 SMPP Message submittal failed for a generic reason.
1219 SMPP Invalid source address type of number (TON). The source TON is either not supported or using an invalid format.
1220 SMPP Invalid source address numbering plan indicator (NPI). The source NPI might be of an incorrect lenght or is formatted using a numbering plan that is not supported.
1221 SMPP Invalid destination address type of number (TON). The destination TON is either not supported or using an invalid format.
1222 SMPP Invalid destination address numbering plan indicator (NPI). The destination NPI might be of an incorrect length or is formatted using a numbering plan that is not supported.
1223 SMPP Invalid replace_if_present flag; the parameter set for replacing a message is invalid
1224 SMPP Invalid number of messages; you're sending more messages than the number allowed by your carrier
1225 SMPP Throttling error; you're sending more messages in a time period than your carrier allows
1226 SMPP Invalid scheduled delivery time. The scheduled delivery time parameter might be of an incorrect length or formatted incorrectly.
1227 SMPP Invalid validity period value. The validity period might either be formatted incorrectly or is of an incorrect length.
1228 SMPP ESME Receiver temporary error. The ESME is experiencing a temporary failure to send the message; the message can be resent.
1229 SMPP ESME Receiver permanent error. The ESME is experiencing a permanent failure to send the message; the message cannot be resent.
1230 SMPP ESME Receiver reject message error. The message is rejected by the ESME due to problems with the message itself. Message sending cannot be retried.
1231 SMPP Message query request failed with a generic failure.
1232 SMPP Error in the optional part of the Protocol Data Unit (PDU) body. There was an error in decoding the message; for example, this might be caused by a corrupt message.
1233 SMPP The Tag Length Value (TLV) is not allowed. One or more of the TLV parameters are invalid and cannot be decoded.
1234 SMPP Invalid parameter length. The length of a Tag Length Value (TLV) parameter is incorrect.
1235 SMPP Expected TLV missing. A Tag Length Value (TLV) parameter is expected but is missing.
1236 SMPP Invalid TLV value. The content of a Tag Length Value (TLV) parameter is corrupt and cannot be decoded.
1237 SMPP Transaction delivery failure. A transaction operation failed to deliver the message.
1238 SMPP Specified service_type is unavailable. The type of service specified is unavailable. This might be the result of a service outage.
1239 SMPP Specified service_type is denied. The ESME is not authorized to use the service specified.
1240 SMPP Invalid data coding scheme (DCS). The DCS might use an incorrect scheme, or the Short Message Service Center (SMSC) does not support the scheme.
1241 SMPP Invalid source address subunit.
1242 SMPP Invalid destination address subunit.
1241 SMPP Invalid destination address subunit.
1243 SMPP Insufficient credits to send message. The sender does not have sufficient balance to send the message.
