Configure 3CX 14 - IP-Based Authentication

The following steps guide you in configuring IP-Based Authentication for your Flowroute SIP trunk in 3CX 14. It is intended for use with 3CX PBX Phone System Version 14 Service Pack 2. 

Before you begin

You will need the following before setting up 3CX 14 IP-Based Authentication: 

  • Flowroute credentials. This is your Tech Prefix, found on the Dashboard > Account Profile page of Flowroute Manage.
  • A list of allowed outbound IP addresses to be added
  • Outbound rules have been created. If you haven't configured any Flowroute Outbound rules, follow the steps here to create them. 

Configure IP-Based Authentication

  1. Whitelist your system's Public IP address(s).
  2. In Flowroute Manage, go to Interconnection > Allowed Outbound IPS, enter a valid IPv4 address, and then click Add IP Address for each IP address to add to the whitelist.
  3. Exit Flowroute Manage.
  4. Open the 3CX Phone System Management Console, and then click Outbound Rulesin the left navigation pane. 

    A list of your Flowroute outbound rules appears in the right-hand pane, as shown in the following example:

  5. In the right pane, under Outbound Rule Name, select an outbound rule to modify. For this example,  select Flowroute Local 10 Digit.
  6. Click Edit Outbound Rule. The Rule properties page for the selected rule appears:
  7. In the Make outbound calls on section, select the Route to configure. For this example, Flowroute is selected.
  8. In the Prepend field, replace TechPrefix*1 with your eight-digit Flowroute Tech Prefix. For example, 12345678.
  9. Click OK. The properties page closes, returning you to the Outbound Rules page.
  10. Next, select Flowroute Local 11 Digit, and then click Edit Outbound Rule. The Rule properties page appears:
  11. In the Make outbound calls on section, select the Route to configure. For this example, Flowroute is selected.
  12. In the Prepend field, replace TechPrefix*1 with your eight-digit Flowroute Tech Prefix Key. For example, 12345678.
  13. Click OK. The properties page closes, returning you to the Outbound Rules page.
  14. Next, configure the rule for international calls.
  15. On the Outbound Rules page. click Flowroute International, and then click Edit Outbound Rule. The Rule properties page appears:
  16. In the Make outbound calls on section, select the Route to configure. For this example, Flowroute is selected.
  17. In the Prepend field, replace TechPrefix*1 with your eight-digit Flowroute Tech Prefix. For example, 12345678.
  18. Click OK. The properties page closes, returning you to the Outbound Rules page.

Configure seven-digit dialing for local numbers

The following steps should be followed if you need to dial seven (7) digits to reach local numbers.

  1. On the Outbound Rules page, under Outbound Rule Name on the right side of the page, click the Rule Name for which seven-digit dialing should be configured. For this example, Flowroute Local 7 Digit is selected.
  2. Click Edit Outbound Rule. The Rule properties page appears:
  3. In the Make outbound calls on section, select the Route to configure. For this example, Flowroute is selected.
  4. In the Prepend field, replace TechPrefix with your eight-digit Flowroute Tech Prefix. For example, 12345678.
  5. After adding your Access Key, add 1 plus your local area code after the asterisk (*). For example, 12345678*1206.
  6. Click OK.  The properties page closes, returning you to the Outbound Rules page.
